Our Curriculum Implementation
We bring our curriculum to life through:
- A carefully sequence curriculum that ensures each subject is planned to address all areas of the national curriculum and build knowledge over time. Mixed aged classes are used as a strength to allow children to learn collaboratively and revisit key ideas in meaningful ways.
- High- quality teaching ensures that children are exposed to clear explanations, modelling and questioning to develop new concepts. Learning is adapted to meet the needs of all our children to ensure progress is made in an inclusive way.
- Reading at the heart of learning to promote a love of reading that is supported by out SSP Little Wandle to ensure the foundations for reading are strong. As children grow that love of reading grows and flourish with exposure to a wide range of rich texts.
- Strong pastoral care that makes every child feel values and welcome at Oak Hill, staff know children deeply and are able to support their emotional wellbeing to make them feel safe and ready to learn.
- Enrichment and real- world experiences that enhance our curriculum and broaden children’s horizons- especially important in our rural setting.
Our Curriculum's Impact
We know our curriculum is successful when our children:
- Achieve well and make strong progress from their starting points
- Remember and apply key knowledge across subjects
- Show confidence, curiosity and resilience in their learning
- Demonstrate our Christian values in their words and actions
- Develop positive attitudes, respect for others and pride in their work
- Feel part of a caring community, ready for the next stage of their education
Our children leave Oak Hill as confident compassionate and well- rounded individuals who are ready to take on new challenges and continue to flourish.
