Attendence

The Importance of Good Attendance

Oak Hill is a successful primary school and your child plays their part in making it so. As a Church of England school we aim for an environment which enables and encourages all members of our school community to lead flourishing lives and experience life in all its fullness. For our pupils to gain the greatest benefit from their education it is vital that they attend regularly and your child should be at school, on time, every day the school is open, unless the reason for the absence is unavoidable.

Please take time to read our attendance policy which outlines why attendance and punctuality is so important for your child.

Reporting School Absence

If your child is going to be absent from school due to sickness or a medical appointment that has not been pre-arranged then please contact the school office by 9am on the first day of illness to inform us.

Please contact them by telephone on 01242 620448 or by email at admin@oakhill.gloucs.sch.uk

The school office will telephone parents if school has not received notification by this time.

If your child is only a little under the weather, or is starting to feel better, we would ask you to support the teachers and the smooth operation of the school by bringing your child into school as normal. On most occasions they will benefit from being in school participating in lessons and enjoying time with their friends but If anything changes over the course of a day Mrs Sharkey/Mrs Brindle will call you requesting that they are collected.

If you think your child is well enough to attend school but needs to be given medicine during the school day, please complete the attached Medical Consent Form form and bring it to the school office.

It is the parent’s responsibility to contact school and provide a reason if their child will be absent with a full description of the reason
